Fancy Pants Designs - Kraft Kuts

Being a mom of two boys, I am constantly on the look out for paper or embellishments for "boy" pages. I always find lots of pinks and purples, or paper with flowers - and don't get me wrong, I LOVE that paper, but, it's really hard to incorporate that paper into a "boy" page.

I also love BLING...and lots of it, but how many boys want to see their pictures covered with glitter and rhinestones??? (I promise, I am going to make a point, just bear with me)

Recently, I discovered a new company, Fancy Pants Designs - and I LOVE them!!! The first set of paper I bought from Fancy Pants Designs was the A rtic Chill line. It is still perfectly stored in my scrapbook closet, but, I do have good intentions. I plan on using that paper to scrapbook my Winter Storm 2009 pictures. Since that first purchase, I have been hooked.

Recently, my local scrapbook store began carrying Fancy Pants, I got so excited! However, at the moment, the lines they are carrying are more for "girl" layouts...but, I didn't get discouraged. I was determined to use some of their new paper. That's when I found Kraft Kuts. It is a little girlie, but, I wanted it so bad, I knew that I could figure out something I could do with it. I took pictures of my boys in front of my uncles irises, and decided those would be the perfect pictures to use on this layout. I am SO please with the result.

IT'S CHALLENGE TIME!!!!

I'm going to try something new. Each month, I will issue a new challenge. It may be scrapbooking related, it may be card making related, it may be paper crafting related, you never know what kind of challenge I will come up with, that's why you need to check back often.

My first challenge, well, it should be no surprise really...It involves my own book, "Sporty Scrappin'".

I have taken a quote out of my book, and challenge you to use it somehow, in a 12 x 12 layout. I will choose a layout as the winner, and the winner will receive an autographed copy of my book, "Sporty Scrappin'".

Exciting News!!!

I'm so excited, and can't wait to share my good news!!! I got on the design team for my local scrapbook store!!! I wanted this SO bad. I have never been on a design team, however; I have dreamed of being on one. I never submitted anything to be on a design team before either...so, I have to submit 2 projects per month, beginning this month. I have already got one ready to go...the bag book I posted two days earlier. I am just so excited, and can't wait to get started!!!

My Favorite Resource Book for Kids Layouts

When I scrapbook, I like the title of my pages to stand out. I like to use stickers, transparencies, and vellum quotes already pre-made some of the time, but since I got the Cricut for Christmas, I really enjoy making my own titles out of coordinating paper on my layouts. I have several books to help me find just the right quotes, however; my favorite quote book is "The Ultimate Guide to Celebrating Kids, II". If you have kids, or you do layouts relating to kids, this book is just what you need. Not only does it have quotes for every kind of event possible, but it also has original poems as well. I never leave home without this book when I'm going to a crop.

Happy National Scrapbook Day!!!

It's been such a long time since I have posted anything...I don't know where to begin. I have so many ideas, and just don't know which idea to start with.

First of all, I should say that I hope everyone had an awesome National Scrapbook Day, and got lots of scrapbooking done. I spent the last two days at my local scrapbook store, Simply Scrapbooking, cropping away!! I had so much fun and the owners of the store were absolutely wonderful. I can't wait until my next crop there, May 29.

Occasionally I "google" the title of my book to see what stores are selling it, and to see if any new stores have picked it up, and tonight, I was pleasantly surprised to find this review at Scrapbooking.com.

I am ALWAYS searching the internet trying to find the newest scrapbooking products. I like all scrapbook produts I find, but there are just some companies that I just LOVE and cannot get enough of their paper and embellishments. My most favorite company is definately, Bo Bunny, they have so many different lines, and they cater not only to girls, but to boys as well, and, since I am a mother of two boys, that makes me very happy. Below is a Paper Bag Album I created using Bo Bunny Abbey Road.

Here's a Layout Using a Quote from My Book

I thought I would share a layout I created using a quote from my book, "Sporty Scrappin".

I used several different "techniques" on this layout, and I am quite pleased with the result.

I created "pockets" with the photo mats for the basketball teams pictures, leaving one side open. I slipped tags inside the pockets. I journaled on these tags. You can use these tags to add more pictures to your layouts, slip "memorabilia" in, or to journal in. This is such a neat and creative way to add more to your layout without making it look too "busy".

I also created word art using the quote from my book. I used several different fonts in my word art, however, you don't have to get fancy. By creating your own word art, you can use any quote or poem you like on your page. You don't have to limit your words to the pre-designed word art you find in stores. Also, by creating your own word art for your scrapbook pages, you will be assured that your work of art is completely original.

My New Favorite Storage Item ~ Pull-EZ

I just got a new storage tote, and am COMPLETELY in love with it!!! I don't know about you, but I have the hardest time keeping my ribbon situated. I don't use much ribbon on my scrapbook pages, but I do love to use the ribbon on my cards....so, here it is:

The new Pull-Ez ribbon holder can hold more than 200 ribbons at a time in a small compact space. It is intended for one to three yard lengths of ribbon, takes up just 10" of space and is flexible enough to squeeze into a tight space. The best part...the ribbons do not tangle when you pull one out!!!

I took my ribbon holder to a crop recently and had only a small space left in my tote bag, this thing folded in half and I could squeeze it completely flat. It was awesome!!! If you are like me and have a problem having something to store your ribbons in, this is for you. You can use this at home, and still pack it up quickly to take with you to a class or crop. It is awesome!!!

Book Signing and Tear Bear Make 'n Take

On Friday, October 12, 2007 at the Scrap Shack in Mooresville North Carolina,I will be demonstrating how to make those adorable "Tear Bears". Please come and visit and learn to make these awe inspiring bears. Not only will you be able to impress your family and friends with your new found creativity, but you will also have the opportunity to browse and shop in one of the neatest scrapbooking stores in the country.

This will be my first "official" class, and I am so excited. Not only for the opportunity, but because I will also be debuting my new book "Sporty Scrappin'". I am so excited about this book, I can't even begin to describe in words what all this book means to me. This is a complete dream come true.

New Things Happening So Fast....

Man - Things are happening in my life so fast, I haven't even been able to update my blog!!! As you can see by looking at the right hand side of the page, I am going to be having classes every week, beginning in July. I am so excited about this!!! I have always wanted to have some type of scrapbook business, but, I didn't really know what. I have prayed and prayed about this, and it just came to me. Things are just falling into place, so I know this is God's timing.

Right now, I am making examples to take pictures of for each class. Each class kit will be available for purchase if someone has a conflict with the dates of my classes.

As soon as I have more information regarding my classes, I will post it quickly.

I should have several samples up by tomorrow evening, so, if you are interested in anything you see, feel free to contact me.

Just getting started on this blogging thing. I hope to update daily with scrapbooking information, as well as tips and anything else fun and useful.

I am by far not the authority on scrapbooking, however; I love to scrapbook. I have been scrapbooking for nearly 11 years now, and love it. Most of what I have learned is self taught. I have only been to one "real" class, ever, and had a ball. I will be attending my second class in a couple weekends.

So...stick with me on this, and we'll all go far in learning how to scrapbook.

Today...I will leave you with a favorite tool of mine...The Cuttlebug. I never thought I would want any type of die cutting machine, until I saw this little gadget in action. I fell in love immediately, and knew I had to have this. So...I purchased it with a couple dies. Now...I buy dies all the time, I absolutely love it. In fact...I am considering moving on to something a little bigger and better. For a beginning scrapbooker, I definitely recommend this little machine. It uses several different brand dies, so, you have more choices what you can make. It's not very expensive, and it's very portable.
